The term universal design was first coined by architect Ronald. L. mace. Universal design refers to the broad spectrum of ideas meant to produce buildings, products and environment that are inherently accessible to all.
Principles of universal design
The main aim of the principles of universal design is to promote the products, and environment that is accessible to all over the world. The people with disability should have equal participation in the society where people without disability survives. Now we can see the seven major principles of universal design they are as follows :
- Equitable in use
- Flexibility in use
- Simple and intuitive
- Perceptible information
- Tolerance for error
- Low physical effort
- Size and space for approach and use
- Design of technology
- Instruction and services
- Other products and environment
