Symptoms of stress
According to Selye 1976, stress is a process of Adjusting to Or dealing with the circumstances that disrupt Or threaten to disrupt the person's physical and psychological functioning. Now we can see about the symptoms of stress. Symptoms of stress are divided into four types. They are listed below :
- Cognitive symptoms
- Emotional symptoms
- Physical symptoms
- Behavioural symptoms
COGNITIVE SYMPTOMS
- Memory problems
- Inability to concentrate
- Poor judgement
- Seeing only the negative
- Anxious or racing thoughts
- Constant worrying
EMOTIONAL SYMPTOMS
- Moodiness
- Irritability or short temper
- Agitation, inability to relax
- Feeling overwhelmed
- Sense of loneliness and isolation
- Depression or general unhappiness
PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS
- Aches and pains
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Nausea, dizziness
- Chest pain, rapid heartbeat
- Loss of sex drive
- Frequent colds
BEHAVIORAL SYMPTOMS
- Eating more or less
- Sleeping too much or too little
- Isolating yourself from others
- Procrastinating or neglecting responsibilities
- Using alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs to relax
- Nervous habits ( Ex. Nail biting, pacing etc)
These are all the symptoms of stress. There will be many effects in our body when we continue live with the stress. Self control is very much needed to control a stress. Self control is a quality that allows you to stop your self from doing things what you want to do that not might be in your best interest.
