Stages of growth and development

 GROWTH 

           The term growth denotes a net increase in the size, Or mass of the tissue. It is largely attributed to multiplication of cells and increases in the intracellular substance. 

DEVELOPMENT 

            Development refers to a process of change in growth and capability over time, as function of both maturation and interaction with the environment. 

STAGES OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT 

                 Growth and development are a set of functional skills Or age - specific tasks that children in general can perform at a specific age. The stages of growth and development are closely integrated with one another. Each stage will greatly affect the next stage. 

The above image clearly displays the growth and development stage of the child. And under this five stages from infancy to senescence it includes this another five development stages in it they are as follows, 

• Physical development
• Intellectual development
• Emotional development
• Social development
• Moral development

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT 

                      It includes the body growth; height and weight changes; muscle and nerve development and changes in body organs. 

INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT

                     It includes the development of mind, learning how to solve the problems, make judgements and deal with situations. 

EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

                      It includes the feelings; dealing with love, hate, joy, fear, excitement and similar feelings. 

SOCIAL AND MORAL DEVELOPMENT

                       It includes the social interaction. Social responsibility and building relationships. 

These are all the development stages and it is important to note that whether each and every child undergoes the correct developmental milestones.
